I have a very dear friend that's having facial reconstruction surgerys dine here in S.C. @ M.U.S.C. She under went having a tumor of cancer removed from her right eye orbit area. She went through chemotherapy. She just had her 1st of many to come surgery's. They did some contouring on February 1 st. She's done all her research and homework if you will about her condition and her specialists working with her. She's not feeling a comfortable with the outcome as she was expecting due to what was explained to her. They told her 6 months from now she could have her 2nd operation, then now she's being told 9 - 12 months later. The problem is she wants to just talk with another doc for another opinion on that, however all other doctor's she would choice our already involved due to her situation.
I'm wonder as a professional could you give me some advice on how to help her get her answers w/o causing animosity between her and her docs. ? She may just being having personal doubts, however this is her face and I know she's a very confident individual and she's definitely accepted that she will never look like her old self. She's turning to me and honestly I just don't know what to say to her. I've been praying on this for a week now and for some strange reason I woke up st 3am with your name in my head to talk to about this. I'm just looking for a true honest answer on how to just go about this.
I'm also feeling guilty that this is how your hearing from family. Your Aunt Barbara is doing okay. Her health is concerning to me, however I make certain she stays on it with her doctors. She has a extremely severe case of COPD that other than I healers she refuses to use oxygen. Still smokes a pack a day. Her potassium and magnesium levels are so low she ended up at emergency room last month. Her blood work came back with 2.3 when it needs to be near twice that. She has high blood pressure as well. Years ago she was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and something else. She's been very depressed since my dad Jimmy died near two years ago. I'm doing the best I can with what I have to offer her. She sleeps 22 -16 hours a day and I'm constantly going in her room to check on her. I have to make her get up and get dressed a become part of the household. I have 3 step Grandsons and 1 biological special needs grandson who's been fighting for his life for all of his 16 months of life, I have 3 grand daughters and one grand daughter on the way in April. They keep me extremely busy and trying to balance my time between mom and there high needs is very stressful on me and my husband. I so Thankful for my church family and my personal relationship with God or I'd loose my mind.
